I am reading for a B.Tech in Electronics Engineering at VNRVJIET, on the VLSI Design & Technology branch. I am right at the start of it, which is why most of this site is empty. It is meant to fill up slowly.

Teaching starts on . I am collecting the textbooks for the first semester and reading ahead into the syllabus so the first few weeks are not entirely new.

I do not have anything to show yet — no projects, no internships, nothing published. I would rather say that plainly than pad the page out. Check the projects and writing pages later in the year.

What I am studying

These are the five theory courses in the first semester, as listed in the R25 handbook.

L–T–P is lecture, tutorial and practical hours per week. The laboratory courses, the engineering workshop and the induction programme run alongside these and are not listed.

Two things about it worth knowing

  • The physics course is not the usual one. There is no wave optics in it, and the last unit is quantum computing — qubits, Dirac notation, the Bloch sphere, quantum gates. It has been pointed at where the branch is going.
  • Network Analysis is not general electrical engineering. No transformers, no machines; it ends on two-port networks and filters. Those belong to a different course in the second semester.

Where I want to get to

I chose VLSI because I want to understand the whole path a chip takes — from something a person writes down, to logic, to a physical thing on silicon that computes.

What follows is a list of things I want to be able to do. None of them are things I can do yet, and I have written it that way on purpose:

  • read and write RTL, and know what the hardware I have described actually is;
  • understand CMOS logic down at the transistor, not just as a gate symbol;
  • be genuinely comfortable on Linux and a command line;
  • use the standard tooling rather than only reading about it;
  • get the mathematics behind signals to the point where it is a tool and not an obstacle.

When any of those stops being a wish and turns into something I have built, it will appear on the projects page with the parts that went wrong left in.

What is not here

No projects, no internships, no publications, no skills list, no marks. I have not done those things yet, and a page claiming otherwise would only be a question I could not answer in an interview.

So this site starts almost empty and is honest about it. The interesting version of it is the one that exists in four years, and the only way to get there is to put real things on it as they happen.
